Fakenham Area Guide
Fakenham is a large and busy Norfolk market town ten miles from the north Norfolk coast. It sits on main roads roughly equidistant from King’s Lynn, Norwich and Holt, making it a hub for the region and home to several large stores. At Fakenham’s heart are a medieval parish church and an attractive and historic marketplace that has been hosting a market since 1250. This popular weekly event, held each Thursday, has now spread throughout the town and encompasses antiques, produce and household goods. A farmer’s market on the last Saturday of each month provides locally grown, organic produce. Fakenham has a broad variety of property, from cottages to new-builds. Larger Georgian and Victorian detached houses sit on the edge of town. It is a popular choice for families and well positioned for local attractions including Pensthorpe Nature Park, Fakenham Racecourse and the Thursford Collection of steam engines and funfair rides. Nightlife in Fakenham includes pubs, restaurants and a four-screen cinema. Rail access is via King's Lynn (20 miles) or Norwich (25 miles).
