Sowerbys are pleased to be sponsors for the forthcoming Dog Show and Family Fun Day at Creake Abbey to raise valuable funds for Wells Community Hospital.
Val Baxter one of the volunteers says ‘This is the first time we have run this event and are hoping this will become an annual event for the hospital. The Hospital is a community hospital and therefore has no NHS funding. A small group of people are on the fund raising committee and attend events to basically keep the hospital open.
We have a holiday renal dialysis unit which is very important to the local North Norfolk area as this allows people who need dialysis an opportunity to go on holiday. In additional we have a number of growing clinics which allow local people services with little travel involved.
As Sowerbys is a dementia friendly company, you know only too well how dementia support has become very important and we hold various sessions to help people and their carer’s.
It is always difficult finding new ways to raise money, so the Fund Raising committee hatched the idea of a Dog Show and Family Fun Day. We are a bunch of people who offer various skills that are pulling the event together. Dog lovers and families love a day out, and dog owners do chase those rosettes.’
Val goes on to say ‘The aim of the event is twofold. Awareness about Wells Community Hospital and the services it offers, along with raising funds to keep the hospital open. We are very ECO conscious with a Biomass boiler and solar panels but on a day to day basis we need income.
We hope that the Dog Show, with demonstrations and have a go classes will attract a lot of people - holiday makers and local people alike. By offering a professional Children's area we aim to make it a day for all the family to enjoy.
Creake Abbey are great supporters of the hospital and have so kindly allowed us to use Creake Abbey to host the event which f course has the advantage of their wonderful on café, food hall, shops and facilities which will further aid the visitor experience.’
"I have been meaning to 'pop in' for the past few weeks - but not managed to yet! I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all, for your help over the last few months with our move. I think this is the first time (in 40 years) I have ever thanked an Estate Agents! But we found you all to be very professional and also very pleasant to deal with. Many thanks again."
