We asked the Norwich team… What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

Thu 17 Dec 2015

Max Sowerby - Managing Director

I really love buying my family Christmas presents that are so personal and unusual, that they would never in a million years guess or expect. I don't always get it right though and last year I thought it would be very festive to buy my young daughter a reindeer skin rug for her bedroom - but I think she thought I had killed Rudolph! Luckily I redeemed myself with some of my other choices.

I also love a Boxing Day walk on the beach to blow away the cobwebs and make some room for all the left-overs I know I'll need to eat! It's also a great game to spot all the Christmas jumpers that people are being so polite by wearing, but will probably never see the light of day again!

I can't think there is a better place in the world to enjoy spending Christmas with my family than Norfolk.

Lloyd Sandy - Managing Director

I love Christmas and am  definitely the biggest kid in our house. I go around waking everyone up for present opening bright and early.  I love having so much time to spend with family. We always go down to the beach in Hunstanton to watch the Christmas morning swimmers followed by a traditional lunch and then back down to the beach for games with the whole family.
We are lucky to live on the coast and have a real open house on Boxing Day where friends, family and extended family all pop in for a drink, the day usually ends in front of the fire, worn out but happy.

Joanna Lobb - Sales Manager

The thing I love most about Christmas is that it is the one day that I can sit indoors watching TV and silly films and eating food and not feel guilty about it!
Having said that, last Christmas I went to the gym in the morning!

Jonathan Wood - Valuer

I am like a big kid at Christmas.  I enjoy the few days before and especially Christmas Eve when we spoil ourselves on yummy food and all help in the preparation for the feast the next day.
I also love the morning on Christmas day when you have the aroma of the turkey cooking throughout the house and the excitement of the banquet of food, wine, laughs and the challenge of Monopoly in the afternoon.

Toby Palmer - Property Consultant

My favourite time at Christmas still has to be Christmas Day. The excitement of what the day ahead has to bring, opening the presents, eating so much food you feel like you will explode. The laughs and of course the fights between siblings… now slightly more inebriated!! And of course the fact that everybody ends up asleep in front of the fire by early evening battle scars healed by many many bottles of wine.
All of these wonderful things happen every year and without them Christmas Day wouldn’t be so magical.

Flora Koralambe - Negotiator

Family, friends and food these are my favourite things about Christmas. I love Christmas day, the walk on the beach, the smells from the kitchen and eventually falling asleep with a cat on my lap, feeling overly full from lunch, but for me Boxing Day is my favourite.
Mum makes a big stew with the left over ham and turkey and a big fresh loaf of bread. Everyone comes over to tuck in after a long walk, and we play games, eat cheese and drink fizz well into the night!

Carly Grigglestone - Marketing Manager

With 2 children aged 7 and 4, Christmas is a very exciting time in our house. Lots of family staying and crammed around the table on picnic benches, new board games played, a brisk afternoon walk. Oh, and most  importantly a bucks fizz to kick start the day for the cook!!

Cindy Naylor - Senior Design Administrator

My favourite thing about Christmas definitely has to be spending time with family, especially those you don’t get to see that often. I come from a big family and being born and raised in South Africa, they are usually spent in the glorious summer. I now look forward to the chill in the wintery air and the buzz and excitement that surrounds Christmas in England; not forgetting the feast on Christmas Day of course! This being said, I wouldn’t say no to the opportunity of spending Christmas back home by the beach with all my family!

"Just a quick note to thank you for handling the sale of my parent's bungalow. It was quick, easy and efficiently handled. The new owners saw the bungalow on 29th January and moved in on 24th March. I am pleased to say they are absolutely delighted with it - which is rather nice for us. Many thanks again."
