We are so excited to announce that Nelson’s Journey is the charity we as a community have chosen to support for the next year.
Nelson’s Journey is a Norfolk based charity which offers an invaluable service to children and young people up to the age of 18 who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. They provide a range of support tailored to the needs of each child or young person, which includes one-to-one support and opportunities to meet others their age who have also experienced a bereavement.
Gena Moore of Nelson’s Journey says, “we are thrilled to have the support of such a prominent, county-wide business such as Sowerbys. Every year we work with hundreds of children and young people in Norfolk who have been bereaved after the death of a special person in their life. Support from local businesses is integral to allowing us to continue to provide our services to those who need our specialist bereavement support, as we receive very little statutory funding and rely heavily on the generosity of the Norfolk public.
Last year we received referrals from 952 children and young people needing our services, so this incredible support from Sowerbys will go a long way to helping us support them and their families, with everything from youth groups to residential weekends and activity days to resources like worry eaters and anger pillows. We are looking forward to seeing all the fun ideas they come up with and working with them to build a rewarding partnership.”
Here at Sowerbys, we will be planning a whole host of events and initiatives to raise as much as we can for this fantastic charity, so keep an eye out on our website and Facebook page to see how you could get involved. We will be placing collection tins in all our offices so if you’re passing, pop in!
As a Norfolk based business, it is great to support a local charity and help them to help the community in which we all live. Carly Grigglestone of Sowerbys says, “having visited the wonderful Smiles House, we appreciate even more the incredible support Nelson’s Journey offer to young people who have experienced the loss of someone close to them.
As a business with eight branches across Norfolk we always try to be part of the community on a local office basis. Supporting Nelson’s Journey allows us to come together and work towards one goal. We are excited about some of the fundraising ideas we have in the pipeline and doing our bit to help raise much needed funds. We look forward to helping Nelson’s Journey bring back smiles to every bereaved child in Norfolk.”
