As this weekend marks the last Bank Holiday before the Christmas break (we know – is it too early to mention that yet?!)The Sowerbys team have shared some of their favourite places to go in Norfolk, in case you’re in need of some inspiration.
What have you got planned for the August Bank Holiday Weekend? Will you be visiting any of our suggestions below? Be sure to let us know!
Holkham Hall Estate

The vast park that surrounds Holkham Hall is always a delight with forest areas, open space to cycle and walk, and the roaming majestic deer to admire.
Take a stroll or cycle around a section of this 3,000 acre space before throwing down a blanket to rest and snack.
The coast!

An incredible 90 miles of it (or 93 when the tide is out!) From the large sandy beaches to the tidal creeks, salt marshes and shingled shores, there’s such a variety for you to experience at the north Norfolk coast – something Norfolk is famous for.
Castle Acre Priory
Enjoy with some local history and spend the day exploring this incredible area; one of the largest and best preserved monastic sites in England dating back to 1090.
You could even visit our friends at Wittles Café and grab one of their picnic boxes to take with you!
The home of independent shopping
The fine city of Norwich is well known for its shopping, especially for independents. Norwich Lanes is great for this as it’s full of independent retailers to mooch around, as well as a selection eateries and public houses.
Thetford Forest

With 18,730 hectares to explore, why not take some time to explore UK’s largest man made lowland forest which is right on our doorstep.
There are so things on offer, such as exciting outdoor adventure at High Lodge and the heritage and history of Mildenhall Warren, not to mention the variety of wildlife!
