Meet the team - lockdown edition: Carly

Published: 07/05/2020

Next up in our series of lockdown interviews is... the wonderful Carly!

Carly is our Group Marketing Manager and is spending lockdown at home with her family.

What has been your favourite lockdown meal so far?

It would have to be BBQ’s. Who knew we would have some much fantastic weekend weather in April and be able to eat outside.

What is the best thing you have watched?

Normal People on BBC3. It’s a love story, which wouldn’t normally be my go to thing, but it is so atmospheric and the acting from two relatively unknown actors is just incredible. I never watch things more than once, but for this I’ve made an exception.

What is your favourite lockdown activity?

I have two children, so keeping them active has meant getting involved, so PE with Joe Wicks is a daily feature now (burpees are not getting any easier!!!). I am very lucky to live on the edge of some Forestry Commission land, so PE coupled with an after lunch walk around the forest everyday means I’m more active than ever!

How are you finding home schooling?

I thought teachers did an amazing job in pre-pandemic times but it’s fantastic to see how they have adapted to keeping children engaged online by setting interesting work and helping support and keep them motivated, so thank heavens for online learning from the school and BBC Bitesize. We also count writing to/emailing Grandparents, watching a National Geographic Programme or the new BBC Primates series and art such as decorating our window in support of the NHS as afternoon work.

What is the thing you're most looking forward to doing when lockdown is over?

I’m really missing family and friends. I have a big birthday in June, so although it will likely be delayed, I will have a big get together with all my favourite people when we are allowed to hug each other again.
