Sowerbys Saturday Shoutout - Lilys Boutique

Published: 03/08/2021

This week we're talking to the owner of the independent Lilys Boutique in Norwich!

From lovely dresses to jumpsuits, trousers and shorts, most of their items are made in Italy and from natural fabrics.

If you're looking for some unique pieces of clothing whilst supporting a small business, this is a great place to visit...

What is your name/role?

My name is Emma Steadman and I will be 50 this year. My shop is named after my little 2 year old rescue labador called Lily who we re-homed from a brilliant charity called LUKAG. She was a timid frightened little dog that had had a really awful to start life sadly, but is now a very happy and very much loved dog.

Where are you based?

I'm based in Ashwellthorpe, Norwich.

What does the business offer?

I sell ladies clothing for all age groups from sizes 10-18. I have a stall at both Wymondham Market every Friday and North Walsham every Thursday. These are both very busy friendly Markets with lots of lovely varied items and great stall holders.

I still also run my boutique online and will happily drop off items locally or post them out.  I can't put into words how much I love my job! I have met some really kind and wonderful people and have made great friends along the way already in this very short space of time.

When did you start the business?

I started in lockdown as we were not able to get to the shops. So I decided to set up a shop on Facebook and chose to both post out and drop off locally (socially distanced of course at the time) ladies clothing, it seemed to help cheer both myself and customers up at a very difficult time.
