What's on guide: summer holiday edition

After a long summer of staying at home last year, it’s great that everything has opened back up again just in time for the summer holidays! If you’re scratching your head trying to think of things to do or places to go to keep the children entertained for six weeks, you’re in the right place.

We’ve put together 10 different family friendly events going on throughout the course of the holiday’s that the children (and you!) are bound to enjoy!

GoGoDiscover Dinosaur Trail - Norwich

GoGoDiscover is raising awareness and vital funds for East Anglian based children’s charity Break with its 21 colourful Tyrannosaurus-Rex sculptures dotted across the city of Norwich.Each T.rex is completely individual and has been decorated by local artists, national artists, and sponsored businesses from across the region.

Kids Comedy in the Park - Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich (30th July - 2:30pm-4pm)

If you’re looking for a laugh, then this new child-friendly comedy event in Chapelfield Gardens is ideal and will have the whole family in stiches.

The event is suitable for those ages six and over and will include crazy circus comedy and musical improv from Noise Next Door.

There will also be street food stalls, a bar and an ice cream truck, so you can enjoy a bite to eat whilst watching the show!

Gressenhall Museum (22nd July - 5th September)

As part of their fun-filled summer holiday programme, Gressenhall Museum are hosting two different themed events from 22nd July – 5th September. 

The first is Terrific Tractors, taking place between 22nd July and 15th August, which will involve a fun trail and quizzes, fun obstacle course, pedal tractors and more!

The other is More in Commons, between 16th August – 5th September, which will involve giant chalkboards, garden games and a temporary exhibition, to name just a few activities.

West Lexham Family Weekender (16th-18th July)

West Lexham’s Family Weekender starts on 16th July featuring an array of activities and entertainment that’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces! Including circus, cabaret and entertainment with The Flying Seagulls, magical folklore and fairy tales with The Fairyland Trust and music from hoedown originals Cut-A-Shine, there is so much to get involved in.

There will also be wild swimming, craft workshops, nature walks, as well as a fancy dress parade and the option to stay in cabins, treehouses, bohemian bell tents!

Kids' Yoga in the Walled Garden - Holkham Hall (3rd & 31st August)

Holkham Hall are hosting bespoke yoga sessions for children within the lovely setting of their Walled Garden. Hosted by Nana Lavender, the sessions are perfect for a bit of mindfulness with each class encouraging children to flow, imagine and become lost in their movements – a great opportunity to try something different!

Brick Dinos at The Forum, Norwich (19th July - 30th August)

Fans of dinosaurs and Lego are in for a treat this summer as The Forum take you back in time with their Brick Dinos exhibition!

The family friendly exhibition features a huge selection of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures made from Lego bricks.

Having been developed by artist Warren Elsmore in conjunction with palaeontologists, the exhibition is incredibly entertaining and educational.

The Bouncing Boggle Party! BeWILDerwood (22nd July - 5th September)

This summer holidays BeWILDerwood are celebrating being outside and running wild!

Head down to storytelling and learn all the best dance moves before enjoying the super slippery slides and daring treetop climbs! There’s also the chance to create your own colourful crown and enjoy the Summer Trial.

Pettitis Animal Adventure Park Summer Fun (22nd July - 5th September)

This summer, Pettits adventure park will be packed with family fun throughout the school holidays!

As well as their usual rides and live entertainment, there will be face painting, Punch and Judy shows and daily animal petting sessions.

Anyone visiting on the 7th August will be able to meet Murphy the baby dinosaur!

Ratatouille - Movie in the Park - Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich (5th August)

Bring the cinema outside on Thursday 5th August, when Chapelfield Gardens air Pixar’s Oscar-winning Ratatouille on the big screen.

Make sure to pack your blanket or chairs and join in the fun! There will also be a bar available and pizza, coffee and ice-creams to enjoy whilst you watch.
