A wonderful waterfront and opulent offerings...

Much attention is thrust open Suffolk's inland villages or its beautiful seaside settings, but its county town offers much too.

With extensive parks, 12 medieval churches and a river running through it, there's much to make Ipswich photogenic and unspoilt.

Its waterfront area offers a pleasant feel a lovely area to idle by, take in and see evidence of regeneration in the area with bars, hotels and restaurants. By the quay is The Custom House, a lovely ode to the town's past.

Whether you're looking for high street chains or bespoke boutique shops, there's lots of offer. St Nicholas Street and St Peters Street have an array of individual offerings whilst two shopping malls, Buttermarket and Sailmakers, are within easy reach.

For some patrons of Norfolk, especially Norwich, the town's football team will be well known. The Tractor Boys play at Portman Road in the third tier of English football and have famous fans such as Ed Sheeran. The world-reknowned artist is Suffolk born and bred and his Castle on the Hill song was about nearby Framlingham Castle.

With so much history and heritage, food and drink and a vibrant community - this county capital is an ideal day visit.

But there's no place like home...

Why not see what else Norfolk has to offer?
