S, Lowry who visited Starston Hall on a regular basis. David was one of the founders of the Norfolk Contemporary Arts Society. As mentioned in the book by Bryan Robertson and Ronald Alley - David Carr, The Discovery of an Artist (published in 1987), one visitor to Starston Hall commented "Starston was a revelation. As the director of a public gallery forever in quest of works of art for exhibitions, I had been a weekend guest in many of the great country homes in England, but I had never seen a country home before that had been kept in such perfect and wholly unpretentious eighteenth - or mid nineteenth century country house style."

STARSTON A peaceful idyll, it's a quiet life in Starston.
