££1,000,000 Guide

3 Bedroom Detached House For Sale

Thurne Mill on the Norfolk Broads has inspired many a budding photographer over the years. When our vendor requested permission from the owner at the time to study it for her photography qualification, little did she know that it would form a path that would change her life.

Over time the late former owner became 'one of the family' and in 2003 he persuaded our client to help him with the running of The Wind Energy Museum and Thurne Mill. The museum is formed from an historic collection of wind and water memorabilia including wind pumps from Great Britain, America and Australia, and is the only one of its kind in the UK.

Relocating to Repps, our vendor built the lodge, Marsh View, and soon caught the bug, with the running of the museum and mill becoming a labour of love. When the late former owner passed away in 2007 he left everything to the current owner to continue his life's work.

They restored Marsh Cottage turning it into a very comfortable home, and have enjoyed the peacefulness, space and amazing views. The skies and sunsets from Marsh View are something to behold.

The cosy yet spacious accommodation is full of character features and has provided many happy memories for the family. They have enjoyed many walks along the river bank to either Thurne Mill and lunch at The Lion or the other way to Potter Heigham.

Marsh Cottage has given our vendor a completely different way of life, filled with peace and space. Taking on the museum and developing it further into the unique tourist attraction it's become gave the current owner a new chapter and a new path to follow. As well as protecting the late former owner, Ronald Morse's, legacy the museum now plays a part in preserving pioneering engineering heritage of over 200 years, that is incredibly relevant today with so much emphasis on renewable energy.

Thurne Mill (which is shown in some of the photographs) with its private mooring is an iconic Norfolk landmark and is available by separate negotiation. It has been a pivotal addition to the museum and as a whole provides a new owner the opportunity to develop the business potential further.
