Welcome to the team: Adele Norris

The Sowerbys family is growing again.

Norfolk is pretty special to us and we're always excited to hear what the team love about the county.

We put some of the toughest questions we could come up with to our new team-member Adele:

So first off, introduce yourself:

People and storytelling are an intrinsic part of who I am and inspired several years traversing the globe.

From van-life under snow-capped Southern Alps, snoozing in a swag crossing the Outback, sitting down to dinner in South East Asian homestays and mooring up with Saharan tribes along the River Nile... but nothing quite beats the fresh air and vast country plains of Norfolk.

Alongside intrepid expeditions I’ve worked in journalism and media relations across Norfolk, Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex.

Now swapping nomadic for normality and returning to my home county, I’m throwing myself into a new journey; joining the Sowerbys’ team to share exactly what it is that makes Norfolk so special you’ll want to call it home.

Adele, we know everything in Norfolk is pretty special but tell us your favourite Norfolk past time:

My family escaped to the county from bustling Surrey when I was about ten.

They were after more open space and fresh air and that sense of community you get from a traditional rural village setting.

From the day I arrived I was allowed to cycle around the village ON MY OWN!

I had an entirely new-found freedom coming from the more-dangerous busy streets south of London.

I'll always remember stopping on a country lane to absorb just how narrow the street was; no pavement, no red or double yellow lines and no traffic! I realised the width of the road was small enough I could lay across it and touch both sides.

From that moment my favourite past time has always been cycling, walking or running around the quiet marsh roads.

Not we don't like to have favourites (how can we ever choose!?) but where are your go-to foodie spots in Norfolk?

I'm a big fan of West Norfolk, it's where I've spent most of my teen and adult life so here are some of my recommendations from that corner of the county:

For a family meal, The Rose and Crown in Snettisham.

For a tipple after work with friends (especially a festive Christmas drink) The Bank House in King's Lynn.

For a deli snack at the weekend: Thornham Deli.

For coffee? I am always looking for a double shot! Luckily Cobbles Tea Room on King's Lynn's historic waterfront and Norfolk Deli Cafe in Hunstanton both serve up the goods!

What will you be doing with Sowerbys?

As the Digital Marketing Specialist I'll be taking Sowerbys' digital output to the next level; working right across the county with all nine branches, sales and lettings staff, developers and wider partners in the Norfolk community to champion where we live and better serve clients.

And finally, why did you chose Sowerbys?

Returning to the UK, I was really conscious I wanted to work for a company which had a deep rooted sense of community and acted as a real advocate for Norfolk.

For me Sowerbys really embraces what Norfolk - and Norfolk living - is all about.

As digital marketing specialist I can't wait to enhance that output and really make a noise about how fantastic our county and the small independent businesses that call it home, are.
