From vibrant market stalls and neighbourhood cafés to intimate fine dining restaurants, the city's independent food scene is thriving.
We caught up with Levi from Sowerbys Norwich, a self-confessed foodie, to share his favourite places to eat across the city.
Asian Flavours with a Twist
If there is one place Levi insists everyone should visit, it's XO Kitchen.
"It feels like a school lunchroom, but don't let that fool you," he says. "The food is incredible. They describe it as Asian fusion, but whatever you call it, everything on the menu is brilliant. Even if you're not vegetarian, the whipped tofu is a must-try."
For authentic Thai cuisine, Levi also recommends Soi Mamma, created by the same team behind XO Kitchen.
Burger Lovers Are Spoilt for Choice
Norwich certainly doesn't disappoint when it comes to burgers.
Levi gives the edge to Dick's, admitting it may have something to do with it being his most recent visit, but it's a close-run competition with local favourites Bun X and FUP Burger, both serving some of the city's best burgers.
Italian Done Right
For a special evening, Benoli tops Levi's list.
"They do Italian exceptionally well," he says. "It's always impossible to decide who's ordered the best dish."
If you're craving fresh pasta without quite the same price tag, Yard is another favourite, delivering simple, beautifully executed Italian dishes.
The team behind Yard also run several other popular venues, including Birch, renowned for its fried chicken, Brick Pizza, and the much-loved Weavers Arms, where quality pub food is firmly on the menu.
Pizza Worth Travelling For
While Brick Pizza has long been one of Norwich's pizza institutions, Levi believes there's a new champion in town.
Lupa Pizza now takes his number one spot.
"Go for the pizza with meatballs and finely sliced red onion," he recommends.
French Classics and Hidden Gems
For elegant French cooking, L'Hexagone offers an intimate family-run bistro serving traditional dishes alongside carefully selected wines.
One of Norwich's true hidden gems is The Corkscrew on Benedicts Street.
With just a handful of tables, chef-owner Sam prepares a daily changing five-course menu using the freshest ingredients available that day.
"It's just one bloke with a passion for great food," Levi says. "Absolutely incredible."
Global Flavours Across the City
Norwich's diverse food scene stretches far beyond European cuisine.
Levi recommends Tasty on Prince of Wales Road for outstanding Szechuan Chinese dishes, while Haggle is his go-to for sharing vibrant Middle Eastern plates with friends.
Market Favourites
Norwich Market remains one of the city's culinary highlights.
For generous sandwiches, head to The Bodega, while Fresh serves some of the best Asian street food you'll find anywhere in the city.
Breakfasts, Brunches and Sweet Treats
No foodie tour of Norwich would be complete without breakfast.
Café 33 is one of Levi's favourites.
"The only disappointing thing is the queue," he laughs. "But that tells you everything you need to know."
For artisan breads, pastries and coffee, Bread Source is a Norwich institution, with several locations across the city.
Meanwhile, those with a sweet tooth shouldn't miss Devecchio's, where the famous cruffins are every bit as indulgent as their reputation suggests.
"The only thing they'll disappoint is your bank balance," Levi jokes.
A City Full of Independent Flavour
What makes Norwich's food scene so special isn't just the quality of the food, it's the passion behind the city's independent businesses. Whether you're after authentic Thai, handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, French fine dining or simply an exceptional sandwich from the market, there's something to satisfy every appetite.
As Levi puts it, "There are truly so many great places to eat in the city."
With Norwich continuing to attract national attention as one of the UK's best places to live, its vibrant food scene is yet another reason to pay a visit and come back hungry.
