Supporting Local Charities
At Sowerbys, supporting our communities has always been important to us. Alongside company-wide fundraising, we now help our colleagues champion the charities and causes closest to their hearts.
London to Paris for PAPYRUS
Sowerbys’ Managing Director, Lloyd Sandy, and Land & New Homes Director, Peter Hurrell, completed the London to Paris cycle challenge this July.
The challenge was undertaken in honour of a friend and client, and his family, following the loss of their daughter earlier this year.
By covering hundreds of miles over several days, Lloyd and Peter set out to raise vital funds and encourage more open conversations around mental health and suicide prevention.
PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide
PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to preventing young suicide and promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Through its confidential HOPELINE247 service, PAPYRUS provides practical advice and immediate support to young people experiencing thoughts of suicide, as well as anyone concerned about a young person.
The charity also works across schools, workplaces and communities to raise awareness, improve understanding and help save young lives.
Grace Read’s London Marathon for the NSPCC
Grace Read, Senior Property Specialist at our Bank Chambers branch in King’s Lynn, completed this year’s London Marathon in an impressive 4 hours and 30 minutes, raising £2,750 for the NSPCC.
Grace followed in the footsteps of her mum, nan & grandad, who had all previously run the London Marathon for the same charity, making the achievement an especially meaningful family tradition.
She was supported on the day by friends from our King’s Lynn branch, who were there to cheer her on. We are incredibly proud of Grace and everything she achieved.
The NSPCC works to protect children, prevent abuse & support young people and families across the UK. Through services including Childline, the charity provides free, confidential support to children and young people, alongside guidance for adults concerned about a child.
