Rental Property Register: What landlords need to know

Rental Property Register: What landlords need to know hero

The Government has recently announced an important update under the Renters' Rights Act, introducing a new centralised rental property database. This will require landlords of assured and regulated tenancies to register both themselves and the properties they let.

In simple terms, the new register is designed to bring key information about landlords and rental properties together in one place, creating a clearer record of the private rented sector.

To help landlords understand how the register will be introduced, Propertymark has outlined the regional deadlines:

"The deadline is based on the location of the rental property, rather than where the landlord lives. Landlords with properties in more than one region can register them all from 15 December 2026 if they choose, but must meet the deadline for each property's region."

For full details of the regional deadlines and associated costs, please visit the Propertymark Website.

As these changes are introduced, our teams at Dereham and King's Lynn, Norwich and Watton will be on hand to support our managed landlords and help make the transition as straightforward as possible.

We are also very happy to speak with self-managed landlords across Norfolk who would like to understand more about the announcement, what it could mean for them and how Sowerbys may be able to help.
