A leading Norfolk estate agent, Sowerbys, has raised over £80,000 for local charities during its 30th-anniversary year.
This milestone was achieved through a combination of community events and staff-led fundraising initiatives, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting its local community.
Additionally, the business donated £20 for every home sold in 2024.
Fundraising efforts included a charity ball, a quiz night, and endurance challenges such as cycling across Norfolk in a single day and completing a marathon walk along the Marriott’s Way.
Employees also took on personal challenges, including marathons and other sporting events, and fun workplace initiatives throughout the year.
With nine branches across Norfolk, the team pledged to make a positive impact to five charities covering a range of vital community services:
- Nelson's Journey, supporting children and young people in Norfolk who’ve experienced the death of a significant person.
- St Martins Housing Trust, helping the homeless build a better life in Norwich and Norfolk.
- The Big C, a local, people-first charity committed to providing outstanding cancer support.
- Mind - Norfolk and Waveney, the mental health charity which believes no one should face a mental health problem alone.
- East Anglian Air Ambulance, your local life-saving charity covering Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire.
Lloyd Sandy, Managing Director, said: “We are incredibly proud to reflect on this year-long charity initiative and the impact it has had on our local communities.
“Giving back has always been a cornerstone of our values, and it’s been heartening to see our clients join us in supporting so many vital charities.
“Their generosity and enthusiasm have been inspiring, truly highlighting the spirit of community that defines our business.”
Max Sowerby, Managing Director, said: “2024 has been a milestone year for Sowerbys as we celebrated 30 years of serving the communities we call home.
“From our beginnings in Burnham Market to now having nine offices across the county, this year has been a poignant reminder of the trust and support we’ve received from our clients and the local community.
“Marking this milestone by giving back has been the perfect way to celebrate everything we stand for as a business.”
"From the day I opened my first office, with just one property, the community’s support has been unwavering. It was a great honour to host a charity ball as part of our fundraising efforts, with so many individuals and businesses helping to make it happen. It was not just a night to remember, but one which made a real difference."
Lloyd Sandy added: “2024 has not only been a celebration of our journey but also a testament to the power of community.
“By involving our clients in the donation-making process, we’ve been able to extend our impact to causes that truly matter to them.
“It’s been a privilege to see how this initiative has strengthened our bond with the people and charities that make our region so special.”
As 2025 approaches, Sowerbys plans to continue fostering community connections and giving back to the region it has proudly served for three decades.
