Why boiling water taps are becoming the must-have kitchen upgrade hero

Boiling water taps are fast becoming one of the most desirable kitchen upgrades, combining convenience, energy efficiency and sleek design in one smart appliance. We spoke to Greg Rowe Jnr, Managing Director of Norfolk-based QETTLE, to find out why these innovative taps are changing the way we use our kitchens.

The kitchen upgrade homeowners are loving and once seen as a luxury, boiling water taps are now becoming a practical must-have in modern kitchens.

Offering instant 100°C boiling water alongside standard hot, cold and filtered water, they remove the need for a kettle while helping to simplify everyday kitchen tasks, from making hot drinks and speeding up cooking prep to cleaning and sterilising.

Norfolk-based QETTLE has been at the forefront of this innovation, designing and manufacturing its award-winning boiling water taps from its headquarters in Stratton Strawless.

Led by Managing Director Greg Rowe Jnr, the family-run business combines over 50 years of tap manufacturing expertise with a focus on practical, energy-efficient design.

“We see the boiling water tap as more than just a tap,” says Greg. “It’s really an appliance replacement, something that changes habits in the home.”

Unlike a traditional kettle, which is often overfilled and repeatedly boiled, boiling water taps dispense only the amount needed, helping to reduce wasted water and unnecessary energy use.

QETTLE’s systems also include filtered drinking water as standard, while their dual-function filtration helps protect against limescale, a particularly useful feature in hard water areas like Norfolk.

Despite their high-spec appearance, Greg says installation is simpler than many homeowners expect, requiring only under-sink space, access to a power point and a connection to the cold mains.

Looking ahead, QETTLE is continuing to innovate, with plans for new features including sparkling water, mixed spray functions and even personalised finishes.

As kitchens continue to evolve into harder-working, more efficient spaces, it’s easy to see why boiling water taps are quickly becoming a modern essential.
