North Creake
North Creake is an attractive village about three miles south of Burnham Market, on the route towards the market town of Fakenham.
The village lies on the River Burn and has a strong local character, with St Mary’s Church, The Jolly Farmers pub and a village hall which offers a post office service twice a week. The hall is also home to the village’s Amateur Dramatic Society.
About a mile to the north, Creake Abbey is home to an award-winning farmers’ market, independent shops, studios and the atmospheric ruins of an Augustinian abbey founded in 1206.
North Creake is well placed for the north Norfolk coast, with long sandy beaches, walking routes, nature reserves and wildlife-rich landscapes all within easy reach.
Nearby Burnham Market has much to offer too, from the world-famous horse trials to an afternoon spent browsing its boutiques, galleries and independent shops. The Fairfax Gallery has been exhibiting for more than 20 years, while Pococks the Artmonger offers an eclectic display.
For families, Mable’s is a popular stop with its pretty pink frontage, pot painting sessions and traditional sweets. Food lovers are also well served, with the Tuscan Farm Shop, Humble Pie Deli and Gurneys Fish Shop all helping to make Burnham Market a place to savour.
Eating out nearby is also a pleasure, with award-winning Socius serving a British-inspired tapas menu on the edge of Foundry Place, while NoTwenty9’s bar, restaurant and courtyard provides a relaxed setting for warm summer evenings.
