Syderstone
Syderstone is a peaceful village in north west Norfolk, surrounded by open countryside and well placed for those who enjoy walking, wildlife and the slower pace of rural life.
The village is known for Syderstone Common, a local nature reserve, and is also home to St Mary’s, a 900-year-old round-towered church which adds to its sense of history and character.
The nearest pub is The Ostrich, a recently refurbished gastro pub in the neighbouring village of South Creake. Burnham Market and Fakenham are both a short drive away, offering a wider choice of shops, places to eat and everyday facilities.
Main line trains to London King’s Cross run from King’s Lynn, while golf courses can be found at Brancaster, Hunstanton and Fakenham.
Within easy reach of the sea, Fakenham is one of north Norfolk’s most useful market towns. With sandy beaches around ten miles away, it is well placed between King’s Lynn and Norwich, with routes towards Holt and Swaffham too.
There is plenty to enjoy nearby, from the independent Central Cinema in Fakenham to glass-blowing sessions at Langham Glass, wildlife walks at Pensthorpe and fresh air at Sculthorpe Moor.
For a day out, Fakenham Racecourse offers a popular local fixture, while Fakenham Golf Club is set in and around the racecourse. Thursford is also close by, with its collection of steam engines and organs, along with its well-known Christmas Spectacular.
