Titchwell is a small coastal hamlet on the A149, positioned between Brancaster and Thornham, where the landscape opens out into wide skies, saltmarsh and sea. It’s a place defined by its surroundings, with nature shaping both the pace and feel of everyday life.

At its heart lies RSPB Titchwell Marsh, one of the most important bird reserves in the country. Spanning over 500 acres, it offers a remarkable mix of habitats, from reedbeds and freshwater lagoons to sandy shoreline. The reserve draws visitors year-round, with species such as avocets, marsh harriers, curlews and terns regularly seen, alongside seasonal migrations that bring constant change to the landscape.

The beach itself is wide and open, with uninterrupted views across The Wash. Whether it’s early morning walks, watching the tides shift or simply taking in the stillness, the coastline here has a calm, unspoilt quality that’s increasingly hard to find.

The village church, St Mary the Virgin, dates back to the 11th century and sits quietly beside the marsh. Its distinctive round tower, built from local flint, is a subtle reminder of the area’s long history and connection to the land.

While Titchwell itself remains peaceful and low-key, nearby Burnham Market provides a vibrant contrast, with a strong mix of independent shops, places to eat and everyday essentials. It’s somewhere people return to time and again, whether for a relaxed lunch, a browse through local stores or an evening out.
